Centering Breath
Focus: Meditation, Mindfulness, Breath awareness
In this class, we learn to use a breath called Nadi Shodana Pranayama. This class builds on the concept of alternate nostril breathing and uses one nostril and then the other to inhale and exhale. The most noticeable benefit of Nadi Shodhana Pranayama is its effects on the mind. As it clears out blockages throughout the energy channels (nadis) in the body, it calms the mind and brings awareness to the present moment.
This breath can be used on its own or in combination as it is excellent preparation for meditation and can be used before meditation to focus the body and mind on the present.
