Strength Leads to Flexibility

Focus: Arm Balance, Hamstrings, Hips, Strength

We dispel the myth that yoga is all about flexibility.  Range of motion is a great consequence to a regular yoga practice but in order to be safe in our postures, we need to have strength and muscle engagement.  As the sequence builds we lay the strength foundation so that we can achieve balancing postures, warrior postures, and finally, Eka Pada Koundinyasana II (Pose Dedicated to the Sage Koundinya).  Enjoy the challenge but don’t be driven only by the physical aspects of the practice.  The asanas set the body, mind, and breath connection and through that we gain a deeper perspective of ourselves.  We wind up the class with some postures to further expand the body and consolidate the strength you have gained.  At the end, we find an all in soothing Savasana (Corpse Pose) to relax mind and body and feel ready to be successful for the rest of the day.
